§ 32-166. ASSAULT OR BATTERY UPON POLICE OR OTHER LAW OFFICER.
   It is unlawful for any person, without justifiable or excusable cause, to knowingly commit any assault, battery, or assault and battery upon the person of a police officer or other officer of the law while in the performance of his or her duties. A violation of this section is punishable by imprisonment in the county jail not exceeding six months, or by a fine not exceeding $500, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
