YARD. An open space at grade between a building and the adjoining lot lines, unoccupied and unobstructed by any portion of a structure from the ground upward, except as otherwise provided in any other section or sections of this appendix.

YARD, DEPTH OR WIDTH OF. In measuring a yard for purposes of determining the depth of a front or rear yard or the width of an interior yard, the least horizontal distance between the lot line and the building shall be used.

YARD, FRONT. A yard extending along the full length of a front lot line.

YARD, INTERIOR. A yard along an interior lot line, but not including part of any front yard.

YARD LINE, FRONT. The rear line of any front yard of a zoning lot. Such line may extend from one interior lot line to another interior line or from one part of an interior lot line to another part of that line, or it may be a continuous perimeter line, depending on the location of the lot with respect to the block which contains it.
