(A) Purposes of the CN district. The CN district is designed to provide for local shopping and includes convenience stores and personal service establishments which cater to frequently recurring needs. The district regulations are designed to promote convenient shopping and the stability of retail development by encouraging continuous retail frontage and by excluding local service establishments which tend to break such continuity and to limit uses or characteristics of operation which encourage traffic from outside the immediate neighborhood.

(B) Purposes of the CI district. The CI district is designed primarily to provide a concentrated central core of intensive retailing and personal services of all kinds, satisfying the personal and household needs of the residents of the entire urban area and outlying trade area; and areas accommodating central administrative, business, financial, general, and professional offices and related services, satisfying the needs of the residents, businesses, industries, and other enterprises of the urban area and the trade area. The district regulations are designed to promote convenient shopping and the stability of retail development by encouraging continuous retail frontage.

(C) Purposes of the CS district. The CS district is designed primarily to provide for certain high intensity commercial and light industrial activities which need a central location, but which either do not require a location in the core of a central business district, or are not compatible with the principal uses of the core district.

(D) Purposes of the CG district. The CG district is designed primarily to accommodate existing developments of mixed commercial, light industrial, and residential uses which are already well established, providing a degree of protection to adjacent residential areas; and accommodate certain commercial and light industrial uses which are compatible with one another but are inappropriate in certain other commercial or industrial districts.

(E) Purpose of the ML district. The purpose of the ML district is to provide areas for manufacturing and other industrial uses of types which ordinarily have only minor or moderate adverse effects on other uses in the vicinity thereof.
