The plumbing code of the City of Alton prevails as the authority for new construction and alteration work where plumbing permits are required. This Chapter recognizes that older structures may be entirely safe while not conforming to the current plumbing code standards. Total conformity to the plumbing code in existing structures is not required by this Chapter; however, plumbing system defects which constitute a hazard shall be corrected in accordance with the plumbing code. Such hazards include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:
A. Deteriorated or leaking pipes, fittings or fixtures.
B. Inoperative or faulty valves or taps.
C. Inadequately supported piping or fixtures.
D. Untrapped fixture.
E. Unvented fixture.
F. Improperly installed water heaters. (Ord. 4267, 1-11-1978)
