The Building Division shall be led by a Building Coordinator who shall be qualified by education, knowledge and experience to perform the duties of the administration of the Building Division. The Building Coordinator shall serve as a liaison to the Appearance Review Commission, Historical Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals. The Building Coordinator shall be initially appointed by the Mayor, by and with the consent of the City Council, and the position shall thereafter be under the civil service regulations of the City of Alton.
