A. The nuisance abatement division shall operate as a separate division of the public works department under the direction of the public works director. The duties of the nuisance abatement division shall be assigned by the nuisance abatement supervisor, and they shall include, but not be limited to, the enforcement of all animal control ordinances adopted by the city council; the mowing of grass and other vegetation on public right of way, easements, or other city property; the cleanup of litter on public right of way, easements, or other city property; and the abatement of other public nuisances as may be assigned by the public works director or by city of Alton ordinance from time to time.
B. The nuisance abatement supervisor shall be qualified by education, knowledge, and experience in the abatement of public nuisances. The nuisance abatement supervisor shall be employed under the civil service regulations of the city of Alton. (Ord. 7232, 12-15-2010)
