The police officers of the city shall do the following.
(A) Preserve the public peace, prevent crimes, detect offenders, and suppress riots and unlawful gatherings which obstruct free passage on the public streets, sidewalks, parks, and public places.
(B) Protect the rights of persons and property.
(C) Guard the public health.
(D) Preserve order at elections and all public meetings and assemblages.
(E) Regulate the movement of vehicles in the streets, bridges, parks, public squares, and highways.
(F) Provide proper traffic and crowd control at fires.
(G) Carefully observe and inspect all places of public amusement and all places of business having license to carry on the business, and suppress and restrain all unlawful and disorderly conduct or practices therein.
(H) Enforce penalties for the violation of state and federal laws, the provisions of this code and ordinances of the city.
(I) Arrest all persons guilty of violating any law or any provision of this code or any ordinance.
(J) Prevent as far as possible any injury to property and buildings, streets, and sidewalks.
(K) Report to the Chief of Police any repairs needed to any public property.
(L) Summon as many persons as may be necessary to assist them in the duties herein outlined.
(M) Survey all parts of the city at reasonable intervals.
(N) Be civil and pleasant to all with whom they have official business.
(O) Perform any other duties that may be assigned to them either by the City Manager or the Chief of Police.

The Chief of Police or any policeman of the city shall have authority, if resisted in the execution of their lawful duties, to summon a sufficient number of men to aid them in enforcing the law, and it shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to assist. A violation of this section is punishable as a misdemeanor.

The Chief of Police and other policemen shall have the power, without a warrant, to enter the enclosure and house of any person when they have good reason to believe that any felony or infamous crime has been or is about to be committed therein. If necessary, the Chief of Police and other policemen may summon a posse to aid them, and all persons so summoned shall have like authority to enter.

The Chief of Police and other policemen shall wear those uniforms as shall be prescribed by the City Council and the metallic badge now in use, which shall be worn on the breast of the coat. The uniforms shall always be worn whenever the officers shall be on duty, unless otherwise ordered by the City Council.
