§ 51.067 INSTALLATION STANDARDS.
   (A)   Whenever the provisions of this subchapter require the installation of a fire hydrant, whether on public or private property, such hydrant shall meet the following specifications.
      (1)   It shall be equipped with a five and one-quarter inch main valve opening.
      (2)   It shall be constructed with two two and one-half inch hose nozzles, with seven and one-half national standard threads per inch.
      (3)   It shall be equipped with one four and one-half inch steamer nozzle equipped with a five- inch Storz connection.
      (4)   It shall be constructed to be opened by turning clockwise a national standard pentagon operating nut.
      (5)   The source of the water supply shall be buried a minimum of five feet below the ground level at the hydrant.
      (6)   The hydrant shall be constructed with a break-off feature to prevent the hydrant from leaking when damaged by collision.
   (B)   All fire hydrants, public or private shall be located not more than eight feet from the edge of a paved area accessible by a Fire Department pumping apparatus, unless in a construction area.
