Any person who fails to obtain a permit as required by this Building Code shall, upon detection, be required to purchase the necessary permit. Because of the additional work required by the Building Division, in such cases, a penalty shall be added to the fee for such permit and shall be double the amount of the fee plus the fee which would otherwise be charged for all commercial projects and new residential construction. For residential permits of less than one hundred dollars ($100.00) the penalty shall be five (5) times the fee plus the fee which would otherwise be charged. The payment of such fee shall be in addition to any penalty otherwise provided by law. The Building Official may with just cause waive the penalty fees.
