§ 100.001 SEALER OF WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.
   (A)   The Mayor shall, with the approval of the Council, appoint a sealer of weights and measures who shall serve at the pleasure of the Council. He or she shall receive such compensation as may be determined by the Council.
   (B)   The city’s Sealer of Weights and Measures shall inspect, try, test and ascertain the accuracy of all weights, scales, beams and all instruments and measures of every kind kept, offered or exposed for sale or used or employed within the city by any person in proving the size, quantity, extent, area or measurement of quantities, things, produce, food and articles for distribution or consumption offered by such person for sale, hire or award; and he or she shall have the power to and shall from time to time weigh or measure packages or amounts of commodities of whatsoever kind kept for the purpose of sale, offered for sale or sold or in the process of delivery, in order to determine whether the same contains the amount represented and whether they be offered for sale or sold in a manner in accordance with law. The Sealer of Weights and Measures shall perform the duties and have like powers as the County Sealer as prescribed by state law.
   (C)   The City Sealer shall keep a complete record of all his or her official acts in a book wherein he or she shall list alphabetically, according to the name of the person owning the instruments and measures inspected and this record shall be maintained in the office of the City Clerk and be open to public inspection.
