§ 74.001 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AXLE. The common axis of rotation of one or more wheels whether power driven or freely rotating, and whether in one or more segments and regardless of the number of wheels carried thereon.
   CITY. The City of Wyandotte, State of Michigan.
   COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE. A bus, school bus, vehicles constructed or used for the transportation of goods, wares or merchandise, and/or other motor vehicles, other than a mobile home, having a gross vehicle weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds, a motor vehicle towing a vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds, a motor vehicle carrying hazardous material and on which is required to be posted a placard as defined and required under 49 C.F.R. parts 100 to 199. A COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE does not include a vehicle used exclusively to transport personal possessions or family members for non-business purposes.
   GROSS WEIGHT. The weight of a vehicle without a load, plus the weight of any load thereon.
   GROSS COMBINATION WEIGHT RATING or GCWR. The value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a combination vehicle. In the absence of a value specified by the manufacturer, GCWR will be determined by adding gross vehicle weight rating “GVWR” of the power unit and the total weight of the towed unit and any load on that unit.
   GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING or GVWR. The value specified by the manufacturer as the loaded weight of a single vehicle.
   HIGHWAY or STREET. The entire width between the boundary lines of every way publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the public for purposes of vehicular travel, notwithstanding that they may be temporarily closed or travel restricted for the purpose of construction, maintenance, repair or reconstruction.
   LOCAL AUTHORITIES. The Chief of Police or his or her designee.
   MOTOR VEHICLE. Every motor vehicle which is self-propelled and every vehicle which is propelled by electric power obtained from overhead trolley wires, but not operated upon rails.
   PERSON. Every natural person, partnership, firm, association, company, syndicate or corporation, and any receiver, trustee, conservator or officer having jurisdiction and control of property by virtue of a law or by appointment of a court.
   TRUCK. A motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily for the transportation of property.
   TRUCK TRACTOR. A motor vehicle designed and used primarily for drawing other vehicles and not constructed to carry a load other than a part of the weight of the vehicle and load being drawn.
