§ 72.045 DECLARATION OF SNOW EMERGENCY.
   Whenever the Mayor or his or her designee finds, on the basis of falling snow, sleet or freezing rain, or on the basis of a forecast by the United States Weather Bureau or other weather service of snow, sleet or freezing rain that weather conditions will make it necessary that motor vehicle traffic be expedited and that parking on certain designated streets or areas within the city shall be prohibited or restricted for snow plowing and other purposes, he or she or his or her designee shall declare a snow emergency and have this information broadcast by the local television and/or radio stations for public broadcast, or by loudspeakers or other broadcasting equipment, or by signs or personal notification. The snow emergency shall remain in effect for those streets and areas so designated within the city for the period of time set by the Mayor or his or her designee or until the particular street or area has become substantially clear of snow and ice from curb to curb for the length of the entire block, whichever occurs first. “Designated streets” shall include any street which has a snow emergency sign, or which has been announced ass a designated street by public broadcast, loudspeaker, mailing or personal notification.
