For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
FOOD HANDLER. Any person who slaughters animals or handles the carcasses of such animals; or who handles meat, meat food products, poultry or seafood or any utensils during the manufacturing or processing, sale or delivery of same in any market or processing plant.
MEAT FOOD PRODUCTS. Every article of food for human consumption which is composed, derived or prepared in whole or in part, from any portion of the carcass of any cattle, sheep, swine, goat, fowl or any other edible meat, except such articles as organo-therapeutic substances, meat juice, meat extract and the like, which are for medicinal purposes and are advertised only to the medical profession.
MEAT INSPECTOR. The Health Officer or any inspector of meat or seafood of the county’s Health Department.
MEAT MARKET. Every place where meat, or meat food products, is sold or offered for sale, at wholesale or retail, for human consumption, except such establishments where all meats, or meat food products are offered for sale in prepacked, hermetically sealed, glass or metal containers.
VEHICLE-VENDOR. Any person who travels about the city selling or offering to sell meat, meat food products or seafood at retail from any vehicle.
