§ 30.002 COMMISSION ON AGING.
   (A)   Created. There is hereby created a non-charter commission to be known as the “Commission on Aging”.

   (B)   Members. The Commission on Aging shall be composed of seven members, who are registered voters of the city and who insofar as possible, represent different professions and occupations. Members shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Council. The term of each member shall be three years, and until his or her successor is appointed. Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of the term shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Council. The members shall serve without compensation; except that, they may be reimbursed for any actual expense paid in the performance of their duties.

   (C)   Officers, meetings and reports. The Commission on aging shall select its President and the Vice-President and Secretary. The Commission shall hold meetings monthly and shall designate the time and place thereof. It shall adopt its own rules of parliamentary procedure and shall keep a record of its proceedings. A quarterly report shall be made to the Council to report the progress of the Committee. Four members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

   (D)   Powers and duties. The Commission on Aging shall have such powers and perform such duties as are designated by the Council and shall, in addition thereto, exercise and perform the following duties:
      (1)   Make surveys, studies and analyses of:
         (a)   Employment opportunities;
         (b)   Educational opportunities;
         (c)   Recreation;
         (d)   Mental and physical health;
         (e)   Housing;
         (f)   Social welfare; and
         (g)   Legal aid.
      (2)   Make recommendations to the City Council of any proposed plans.
