§ 152.043 OTHER EXTERIOR CONSTRUCTION.
   (A)   Porches and decks. Porches and decks shall be constructed of treated material equal to piling material standards. However, pilings may be reduced to six-inch by six-inch, eight feet on center. Sills reduced to two-inch by ten-inch doubled or equal and joists may be placed on two feet centers as per the state code. All decking material shall be of a minimum 1-1/2-inch thickness pressure treated to .6 cca per cubic foot or equal. (Equal is considered to be cedar, cypress, or redwood material of minimum grade cedar and redwood 85% or better heartwood, cypress grade C or below.) Markings or certificates may be required. No deck or porch or pier shall be constructed without adequate guard rails, as specified in § 52.021(O).
   (B)   Stairways exterior. All stairways shall be of treated material equal to balance of exterior construction and shall be at least three feet wide clear, equipped with handrails on both sides no less than 30 inches high and nothing greater than a seven-inch rise and nothing less than an 11-inch tread.
   (C)   Exterior foundation, walls, and roofs. Every foundation wall, exterior wall, and exterior roof shall be substantially weather-tight and rodent-proof; shall be kept in sound condition and good repair; shall be capable of affording privacy; and shall be safe to use and capable of supporting the load which normal use mav cause to be placed thereon. Every exterior wall shall be protected with paint or other protective covering to prevent the entrance or penetration of moisture or the weather.
