§ 70.16 STANDARDS FOR SIGNS AND SIGNS REQUIRED FOR ENFORCEMENT OF CHAPTER.
   (A)   Signs utilized for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this chapter shall be placed in locations as approved by the Town Manager or his designee and consistent with standards promulgated by the Manual of Uniform Traffic Devices promulgated by the U.S. Department of Transportation. In the event a series of signs are placed (for example, a series of "no parking" signs), such signs shall be located so that a sign can be read from the preceding sign taking into consideration the line of sight and field conditions. All such signs shall be installed in accordance with guidelines provided for in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Devices promulgated by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Except where circumstances dictate otherwise, signs shall be installed on the right side of the road and at a height of at least seven feet.
   (B)   No provisions of this title for which signs are required shall be enforced against an alleged violator if, at the time and place of the alleged violation, a sign as required by the provisions of this chapter has not been installed. Whenever a particular section does not state that signs are required, the section shall be effective without signs being placed to give notice thereof.
