§ 150.076 ELECTRIC CODE ADOPTED BY REFERENCE.
   (A)   Adoption by reference. The installation or alteration of any and all electric wiring connections and apparatus under the provisions of this subchapter, shall be under the supervision of the Electrical Inspector and in conformity with the rules and regulations set down in the rules and requirements of the National Board of Fire Underwriters for electric wiring and apparatus as recommended by the National Fire Protection Association and known as the 2008 National Electrical Code, NFPA No. 70-2008, and same by reference hereto is hereby adopted and approved as the specifications governing electrical conductors under this subchapter, except as modified by ordinance of the said city relative hereto. A copy shall be made available for public inspection during normal business hours at the City Clerk’s office. The Fire Chief and Police Chief respectively shall have the control of all matters pertaining to the installation, operation, and repair of the fire and police alarm telegraph system. Approved rigid metal conduit is to be installed in all areas outside of structure where service wiring is exposed.
   (B)   Additions, insertions, and changes. The following minimum standards shall apply to any electrical installation, whether residential or otherwise. The standards listed below which may be in conflict with the codes referenced above shall be considered the minimum requirement that must be adhered to.
      (1)   Minimum of 100 amp service for residential and/or business occupancy.
      (2)   #3 T.H.W. copper minimum for 100 amp service, aluminum is prohibited.
      (3)   #3-0 T.H.W. copper minimum for 200 amp service, aluminum is prohibited.
      (4)   Service entrances on principle buildings only. No service may be installed on an accessory structure without the written approval of the Fire Chief and the Building and Zoning Administrator. Written approval will only be provided in circumstances which warrant special consideration.
      (5)   Entrance cable and neutral must be of equal size.
      (6)   Neutral must be identified and continuous from weather-head through meter socket to termination point on main service panel.
      (7)   Only one overhead entrance feeder shall be attached per principle building.
      (8)   Ground wire and grounding system shall meet latest National Electrical Code.
      (9)   Only rigid metal conduit shall be used from weather-head to service panel.
      (10)   Where there is more than ten linear feet from service panel to entrance, an approved outside disconnect shall be installed. All main panels shall have a single main disconnect. Commercial buildings must have an outside disconnect on main service.
      (11)   Main panels shall not be allowed in living areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, halls, closets, living rooms, or dining rooms.
      (12)   #12awg. Copper minimum shall be used for branch circuits and switch legs on 110 v. systems.
      (13)   No more than eight electrical devices, receptacle, and/or switches shall be installed on one circuit in residential occupancies.
      (14)   No more than ten electrical devices, receptacle, and/or switches shall be installed on one circuit in commercial occupancies unless load calculations are submitted first to the electrical inspector.
      (15)   Service entrance connections and/or meter base shall be three feet from exiting doors and/or windows.
