5-7A-1: CURFEW 1 :
   A.   Established: It shall be unlawful for any person younger than seventeen (17) years old to be present at, in, or on any public assembly, building, place, street, or highway within the corporate limits of the village at any of the following times, except only as provided in subsection B of this section: (Ord. 2004-44, 7-1-2004; amd. Ord. 2010-25, 5-6-2010)
      1.   Between one minute after twelve o'clock (12:01) A.M. and six o'clock (6:00) A.M. on Saturday; and
      2.   Between one minute after twelve o'clock (12:01) A.M. and six o'clock (6:00) A.M. on Sunday; and
      3.   Between eleven o'clock (11:00) P.M. on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday and six o'clock (6:00) A.M. the following day.
   B.   Exceptions: This section shall not apply to any person who is:
      1.   Accompanied by and supervised by a parent or legal guardian or by some other responsible companion who is at least twenty one (21) years old and who is approved by a parent or legal guardian; (Ord. 2004-44, 7-1-2004)
      2.   Engaged in a lawful business or occupation which Illinois law authorizes any person younger than seventeen (17) years old to perform; (Ord. 2004-44, 7-1-2004; amd. Ord. 2010-25, 5-6-2010)
      3.   Attending or traveling to or from an official school, religious, or civic activity;
      4.   Exercising first amendment rights protected by the United States constitution or rights protected by article 1, sections 3, 4 and 5 of the constitution of the state of Illinois, or both, such as the free exercise of religion, freedom of speech and the right of assembly;
      5.   Involved in an emergency involving the protection of a person or property from an imminent threat of serious bodily injury or substantial damage; or
      6.   Traveling between states or internationally from a location outside of Illinois to another location outside of Illinois.
      7.   Married or has been married or is an emancipated minor under the emancipation of mature minors act, as amended.
   C.   Enforcement: A police officer shall not take any enforcement action under this section unless the police officer reasonably believes that a violation of this section has occurred and that no exception listed in subsection B of this section is applicable.
   D.   Parental Responsibility: It shall be unlawful for a parent, legal guardian, or other responsible companion to knowingly permit a person in her or his custody or control to violate this section. (Ord. 2004-44, 7-1-2004)
