The Building Inspector shall be charged with the following duties and responsibilities.
(a) The Building Inspector shall be in charge of the Building Department and shall be responsible for the receiving, handling and disposition of all applications for permits and for the issuance of all types of permits required by these Codified Ordinances, subject, however, to the approval of such committee, commission or board as may be required in these Codified Ordinances.
(b) He shall be responsible for the enforcement of the Planning and Zoning Code and the Building Code and all other ordinances, resolutions and procedures of the Village affecting construction, repairing, remodeling, removal or razing any structure as well as the use of any structure or land within the City.
(c) He shall be responsible for making all inspections required and keeping a record thereof.
(d) He shall advise and assist the Mayor, the Planning and Zoning Commission and other City officials with reference to their departments.
(e) He shall be responsible for the keeping of accurate and complete records of all Building Department activities and the charging and collection of all fees in connection with permits. Immediately upon receipt thereof, he shall forward the same to the Treasurer and receive a receipt therefor.
(f) He shall assist the County health authorities in such matters as may be required involving the health matters affecting the Village.
(g) He shall have the power and duty to halt any construction, repairing, remodeling, removal and razing of any structure or lands not being used in accordance with these Codified Ordinances or any other Village ordinance, resolution or regulation relevant thereto.

(h) The Building Inspector shall hold a Class 3 certification as Building Inspector as well as a Class 1 certification as Building Official for purposes of the Ohio Basic Building Code (OBBC) and shall be considered the Village’s Building Official thereunder.
