136.01 ESTABLISHMENT; APPOINTMENT; DUTIES.
   (a)    A Department of Public Safety is hereby established under the authority of Article V, Section 1 , of the Charter of the Village of Woodmere, with the Departments of Police, Fire and Building being divisions within the Department of Public Safety. The Director of Public Safety shall be the head of the Department of Public Safety.
   (b)    The Mayor, in addition to his or her other duties, shall be, and shall perform the duties of, the Director of Public Safety. However, the Mayor may decline the position of Director Of Public Safety. In that case, the Director of Public Safety shall then be appointed by the Mayor, within 90 days of the Mayor declining the position. The Mayor’s appointment of the Director of Public Safety shall be subject to confirmation by a vote of four (4) members of Council.
   (c)    The Director of Public Safety shall supervise the Police Chief, Fire Chief and Building Inspector and shall be ultimately responsible for the enforcement of all police, fire, health, safety and sanitary regulations, and all of the provisions of the building and zoning codes, and all such similar regulations, codes, laws and ordinances, that may be prescribed by resolutions and ordinances of the Village or laws of Ohio.
