(A) Employees must have completed 6 months of employment, including successful completion of the initial introductory period, before earning or taking any vacation leave. If an employee terminates before the 6 months of employment have been completed, he or she forfeits any vacation leave.

0 – 48 months | 8 |
49 – 168 months | 12 |

(E) Employees absent because of sickness or off-duty injury or disability may use accrued vacation leave during time off only after accrued sick leave has been exhausted.
(F) Employees serving an initial introductory period may not take vacation leave; employees on promotional introductory period may take accrued vacation leave.
(G) Vacation leave should be requested 1 month in advance. Vacation leave may be disapproved if the employee’s services are required at the requested time.
(H) When a former employee is reinstated, the person shall be considered a new employee for vacation leave purposes.
(I) Compensation in cash for vacation in lieu of time off shall not be given.

(L) (1) A maximum of 96 vacation hours may be carried over to the following calendar year. On December 31 of each year, vacation hours in excess of this maximum carryover will be moved to the employee’s sick hours account on January 1 of the following year.
(2) At the end of the 2004 calendar year, employees are allowed to carry an amount no greater than their 2004 accrual. This allows employees time to adjust to the new method of accruing time per month. After 2004, the policy listed in division (L)(1) of this section will be in effect.
(M) Attendance. Attendance is a critical component of an employee’s success in the workplace. In the event an employee exhausts the balance of available sick, holiday and vacation hours and is off work without pay, they may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. (Exceptions to this include absences eligible for and covered by Family and Medical Leave Act and Medical Leave of Absence policies of the Woodford County Fiscal Court.)
