§ 71.26  STOP AND YIELD SIGNS; RIGHT-OF-WAY.
   (A)   When stop signs are erected at the entrance to any intersection every driver of a vehicle shall stop at every such sign or at a clearly marked stop line before entering the intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or traffic-control signal.
   (B)   The driver of a vehicle emerging from an alley, driveway or building shall stop such vehicle immediately prior to driving onto a sidewalk or into the sidewalk area extending across any alleyway, and upon entering the roadway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching on the roadway.
   (C)   (1)   The driver of a vehicle shall stop at the entrance to a through highway and shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles which have entered the intersection from the highway or which are approaching so closely on the highway as to constitute an immediate hazard, but the driver, having so yielded, may proceed, and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection on the through highway shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding into or across the through highway.
      (2)   The driver of a vehicle shall likewise stop in obedience to a stop sign at an intersection where a stop sign is erected at one or more entrances thereto although not a part of a through highway, and shall proceed cautiously, yielding to vehicles not obliged to stop which are within the intersection or approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard, but may then proceed.
   (D)   (1)   When stop signs are erected at or near the entrance of any intersection, every driver of a vehicle facing the stop sign shall stop the vehicle at the sign before entering the intersection, except when directed to proceed by a police officer or a traffic-control signal, and shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicles which have entered the intersection from the intersecting street or which are approaching so closely on the intersecting street as to constitute an immediate hazard. The driver having so yielded may proceed and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection on the intersecting street shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding into or across the intersecting street.
      (2)   When yield-signs are erected at or near the entrance of any intersection, every driver of a vehicle shall slow down to a speed reasonable for existing conditions, or shall stop if necessary before entering the intersecting street, except when directed to proceed by a police officer of traffic-control signal, and shall yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian legally crossing the roadway on which he is driving and to any vehicle in the intersection or which is approaching on another street so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard. The driver having so yielded may proceed and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection on the intersecting street shall yield to the vehicle so proceeding.
      (3)   If a driver is involved in a collision with a pedestrian in a crosswalk or a vehicle in the intersection, after driving past a yield sign without stopping, the collision shall be deemed prima facie evidence of his failure to yield right-of-way.
