It shall be unlawful to conduct or operate any theatrical performance, with the exception of motion pictures or other performances specifically licensed by this code to which a charge is made for admission and which is not conducted solely for the profit of and under the auspices of a local public school or a local village religious or charitable organization, without having first obtained a license therefor, as is herein provided.
