In accordance with Ohio R.C. 5101.521, when the body of a dead person is found within the corporation limits of the Municipality or where the person at the time of death had legal residence in the Municipality and was indigent and such person was not an inmate of a penal, reformatory, benevolent or charitable institution in the State and such body is not claimed by any person for private interment at his own expense or delivered for the purpose of medical and surgical study or dissection in accordance with Ohio R.C. 1713.34, or whenever a claim is made that the Municipality is liable for the interment or burial expense of any deceased person, the Fiscal Officer is hereby authorized to pay for the burial not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). Said costs shall include the cost of the grave of the person or, if the person’s cremated remains are buried, at the grave of the person’s cremated remains, a stone or concrete marker on which the person’s name and age, if known, and date of the death shall be inscribed.
