705.02 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter the following words shall have the meanings ascribed herein, unless otherwise provided.
   (a)   "Alarm system" means any assembly of equipment, mechanical or electrical, arranged to signal the occurrence of an illegal entry or other activity requiring urgent attention and to which the Police Department is expected to respond.
   (b)   "Alarm user" means a person, firm, partnership, association, corporation, company or organization of any kind in control of any building, structure or facility where an alarm system is maintained.
   (c)   "Local alarms" means those alarm systems which activate an audible signal within the proximity of the premises only.
   (d)   "False alarm" means the activation of an alarm system through mechanical failure, malfunctioning, improper installation, or the negligence of the owner or lessee of an alarm system, family members, employees or agents. Examples of false alarms shall include but not be limited to:
      (1)   Neglecting to turn off the alarm before entering a protected property;
      (2)   Failure to call a monitoring agency and/or the Police Department to advise them that the entry is authorized;
      (3)   Failure to properly instruct an employee or representative who has access to a protected property of the correct use of the alarm system;
      (4)   Activation of an intrusion alarm requiring a response because the system and/or equipment is not in compliance with manufacturers recommendations; and
      (5)   Activation of an intrusion alarm requiring a response because the sensory mechanism used in connection with such devices has not been properly adjusted to suppress false indications of intrusion.
   (e)   "Year" means a calendar year commencing on January 1 and ending on December 31 of the then current year in which such alarms are transmitted.
