A. Awning or Canopy Permit. Except as provided in subsection D, no person shall install, erect, construct or replace an awning or rigid canopy unless the owner first obtains a building permit from the Director of Community Development pursuant to Title 15 of this code.
B. Design Approval. Except as provided in subsection C, no person shall install, erect, construct or replace an awning or rigid canopy unless the owner first obtains a certificate of appropriateness of design from the Design Review Board as provided in Chapter 15.72 of this code.
C. Fees. The fees for the awning or canopy permit and for the certificate of appropriate of design shall be set from time to time by resolution of the Village Council.
D. Exceptions. No permit or design approval shall be required for any awning or rigid canopy attached to a single-family dwelling or a building or structure that is an accessory to a single-family dwelling.
