A. Scope. This chapter, including the provisions of the Illinois Food Service Code, 1998 Edition, and the Illinois Retail Food Store Sanitation Code, 1992 Edition, as adopted by reference in this chapter, establish the minimum requirements for the manufacture, processing, preparation, handling, labeling, storage and dispensing of all items of food and drink sold for human consumption in the Village.
B. Intent. This chapter is intended to ensure the public health, safety and welfare insofar as they are affected by the manufacture, processing, preparation, handling, labeling, storage and dispensing of all items of food and drink sold for human consumption in the Village.
C. Authority of Village Sanitarian. The Village Sanitarian is hereby authorized to enforce the provisions of this chapter, which shall include such powers as: the power to issue such rules and regulations as the Village Sanitarian may deem necessary to implement the provisions of this chapter; the power to issue, renew, suspend and revoke licenses issued pursuant to this chapter; the power to conduct inspections of all food service establishments and retail food stores in the Village; the power to issue citations for violations of this chapter or any rules promulgated pursuant to this chapter; and the power to specify corrective actions a food service establishment or retail food store must take to fully comply with this chapter.
