A. Creation of Board. Pursuant to the home rule authority of the Village, there is created a Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village, who shall have such powers and perform such duties as are provided in this chapter.
B. Members; Appointment. The Board shall consist of three members who shall be appointed by the Village President, with the advice and consent of the Trustees; provided that, no appointment shall be made by the President within thirty (30) days before the expiration of the President's term of office.
C. Term of Office. Each member shall serve for a term of three years and until a successor is appointed and qualified. The terms of the members shall be staggered so that one term expires each year.
D. No Compensation. Members of the Board shall serve without compensation unless such compensation is approved and provided for by the Council.
