A. Creation; Appointment. There is created the position of Deputy Fire Chief, an administrative office of the Village. The Deputy Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Fire Chief, subject to the approval of the Village Manager, and shall not be subject to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners created by this code. The Deputy Fire Chief need not be a resident of the Village.
B. Compensation. The compensation of the Deputy Fire Chief shall be fixed by the Fire Chief, subject to the approval of the Village Manager.
C. Powers and Duties. The Deputy Fire Chief shall be subject to the control and direction of the Fire Chief and shall assist the Fire Chief with the administration and operation of the Fire Department. In the absence of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Fire Chief shall assume all the duties and responsibilities of the Fire Chief.
