The Fire Department shall be generally responsible for the extinguishment and control of destructive fires in the Village for the providing of firefighting, fire prevention and life safety services in the Village. The functions and authority of its members shall include, but not be limited to the following:
A. To conduct a minimum of one regularly scheduled annual inspection of all structures in the Village other than single and two-family residential structures, and to conduct such additional reinspections as may be necessary to assure correction of any violations;
B. To conduct special fire safety surveys of single and two-family residences in the Village at the request of the owners or occupants of such residences;
C. To conduct an ongoing program of fire prevention education;
D. To review all plans and specifications for construction and remodeling of all structures, other than single-family residential structures; in the Village;
E. To respond, as personnel and equipment are available, to emergencies other than those caused by destructive fires;
F. To furnish emergency ambulance and paramedic services and to provide emergency patient transportation;
G. To participate in area mutual aid fire control, training and ambulance programs; to provide rescue, disaster aid, hazardous materials and scuba services and training assistance; and to assist other Village departments, all as equipment and personnel are available;
H. To review and approve liquid or compressed gas storage tank installations;
I. To conduct tactical pre-plan reviews of all structures in the Village other than single and two-family residential structures; and
J. To perform such other duties related to fire prevention and fire extinguishment and control as may be directed by the Fire Chief, and to comply with the rules and regulations of the Department, as promulgated by the Fire Chief.
