1305.04 REGULATIONS OF TEMPORARY ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCES.
   (a)   Scope. The provisions of this section apply to temporary electrical power and lighting and wiring methods which may be of a class less than would be required for permanent installation.
   (b)   Time Constraints.
      (1)   During the period of construction. Temporary electrical power and lighting installations shall be permitted during the period of construction, remodeling, maintenance, repair or demolition of buildings, residential homes or other structures.
      (2)   Removal. Temporary wiring shall be removed immediately upon completion of construction or purpose for which the wiring was installed.
   (c)   Installation Permit. Services shall be installed by electrical contractors who obtain a permit for such service from the Building Inspector of the City. A fee of thirty dollars ($30.00) shall be paid for such a permit.
   (d)   Inspection. The Electrical Inspector of the City shall inspect the installation of all temporary electrical power sources prior to their usage at any construction site for which a building permit is requested. The Electrical Inspector of the City shall place an appropriate tag or other identifiable mark on the power source signifying that he has inspected the temporary power source and that the contractor has adhered to the requirements of this section.
   (e)   Services. All services shall be installed in conformance with Article 230 of the National Electrical code.
   (f)   Grounding. All grounding shall conform to Article 250 of the National Electrical code.
   (g)   General. Any and all definitions, requirements or regulations regarding power source equipment, including but not limited to feeders, branch circuits, receptacles, disconnecting means, lamp protection and splices, shall be in conformance with Article 305 of the National Electrical code.
   (h)   Guarding. All temporary electrical power sources shall be secured and locked when not in use to prevent access of other than authorized and qualified personnel. For temporary wiring over 600 volts, nominal, suitable fencing or barriers or either effective means shall be provided to prevent access of other than authorized and qualified personnel.
   (i)   Penalty. Whoever violates this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. (Ord. 2006-36. Passed 5-25-06.)
