(a) There is hereby established a Shade Tree Department of the City.
(b) The Shade Tree Department shall be responsible for managing the care of all trees on City-owed property, including removal, trimming, pruning, surgery, planting and replanting of shade trees, in accordance with this Chapter, and to assist in securing the cooperation of the residents in a coordinated and planned program of tree protection and planting.
(c) A budget and plan shall be established for the long-term health of the tree canopy within the City and to maintain all necessary criteria and qualifications to meet the Tree City USA Program standards.
(d) The Shade Tree Department shall provide for an annual Arbor Day observance and proclamation. (Ord. 2021-109. Passed 11-16-21.)
