The Mayor for at least three (3) years prior to his election and during his term in office shall have been and continue to be a resident of the municipality or of any area annexed during said period and a qualified elector thereof. He shall not hold any other public office or public employment except as otherwise provided in this Charter or ordinance, and that of Notary Public or membership in the state militia, or reserve corps of the United States.
