§ 130.02 FIREARMS.
   (A)   Prohibiting the discharge of weapons. It shall be unlawful for any person within the corporate limits of the city to shoot, fire off, or discharge any gun, pistol, rifle, or any other firearm, except in the exercise of a right conferred by law, including, but not limited to, the making of a lawful arrest, the lawful prevention of crime, the lawful exercise of the right of self-defense, the lawful protection of one's family, and/or upon a rifle range which is inspected and approved for safety of design and operation by the Police Chief.
   (B)   Discharging air gun in public or private places.
      (1)   It shall hereafter be unlawful for any person to shoot or discharge any air gun or air rifle of any kind, character, or description in, on, across, or near to any public place, park, cemetery, school ground, street, highway, right-of-way, alley, or any private property used by other persons for residential purposes within the corporate limits of the city.
      (2)   This section shall not apply when the firing is done in the necessary and lawful protection of one's personal property or premises, unless the firing is recklessly or negligently done.
   (C)   Effective date. This section shall become effective on 11-22-2002.
