§ 91.06 LIMIT ON AND EXPIRATION OF PERMITS.
   (A)   The Police Chief shall issue a permit for all trucks so complying with the provisions of this chapter upon proper application being made therefore unless legal grounds exist for denying such a permit.
   (B)   Each permit shall expire at midnight on January 31 of each year and will be renewable only upon compliance with the provisions of this chapter and any other applicable laws, ordinances or regulations that shall be in effect at the time of the renewal application.
   (C)   The Police Chief is authorized to limit the number of tow truck companies eligible to submit an annual application for inclusion on the permit list for non-consent tows to a number that is manageable for administration of this chapter and meets the service level required for the number of non-consent tows each year. As of August 18, 2021, the number of tow truck companies for regular tow trucks is set at seven, and the number of tow truck companies for heavy duty tow trucks is set at five. The Police Chief will review the service level every three years and make a recommendation to the City Council as to whether that number needs to be increased.
