Pursuant to ILCS Ch. 55, Act 5, § 3-12003, the County Board exempts from coverage of the County Merit Commission all individuals assigned to the following common ranks: Undersheriff, Chief Deputy, Chief Deputy Warden and Deputy Chief and other administrative assistants by whatever name called, without increasing the total number of sworn police personnel commonly referred to as deputies.
