For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
BOARD. The Board of Health of the county.
DEPARTMENT. The County Health Department.
HOME HEALTH AGENCY or AGENCY. The Health Department of the county which is responsible for providing the home health service in accordance with the certification standards established by the State Department of Public Health.
HOME HEALTH SERVICE. Those items and services furnished to individuals, under the care of a physician, on a visiting basis in a place of residence used as the individual’s home. These services are provided by the Home Health Agency under a plan for furnishing items and services to an individual, established and periodically reviewed by the patient’s physician, and include part-time or intermittent nursing care provided by or under the supervision of a registered professional nurse, and the services of one or more of the following: physical, occupational or speech therapy, medical social work or intermittent services of a home health aide.
