The Mayor shall receive a salary of eighteen hundred dollars ($1800.00) per year, payable quarterly, so long as he continues to discharge judicial functions. If and when these are terminated, he shall receive the same salary as members of Council. The Council shall have authority to change the salary of the Mayor, by ordinance, but no such ordinance shall take effect as to a Mayor then in office. Such an ordinance shall not be passed as an emergency ordinance and shall be passed at least sixty days before the Municipal election in order to become effective for the following mayoral term.
