(A) All vehicles and bicycles using the streets and public places of the town shall be provided with a lawful horn or warning device which produces a sound sufficiently loud to serve as an adequate warning of danger, and it shall be unlawful for any person operating any vehicle or bicycle to make, or cause to be made, any unnecessary noise with any horn or other warning device, or to use it except as a warning of danger.

(B) All vehicles and bicycles operated on the streets of the town, between 1/2 hour after sunset and 1/2 hour before sunrise, shall be provided with at least 2 lighted lamps, showing white lights visible for a reasonable distance in the direction towards which the vehicle is going, and 1 red light attached to the rear of the vehicle, visible for a reasonable distance in the rear thereof; provided, that 2 wheeled vehicles and bicycles need have but 1 front lamp and bicycles may have a red reflector at the rear in lieu of a rear lamp.

(C) No person operating, or causing to be operated, a self-propelled vehicle shall permit the pipes, muffler, exhaust or other device to emit sounds of exhaust, and the muffler cut-out on all vehicles shall be in good repair and shall be closed while on any of the streets or public places of the town.

(D) No tire on a vehicle moved on a street shall have on its periphery any block, stud, flange, cleat or spike or any other protuberance of any material other than rubber which projects beyond the tread of the traction surface of the tire, except that it shall be permissible to use farm machinery with tires having protuberances which will not injure the street and except, also, that it shall be permissible to use tire chains of reasonable proportions upon any vehicle when required for safety because of snow, ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to slide or skid. It shall be permissible to use upon any vehicle for increased safety, regular and snow tires with studs which project beyond the tread of the traction surface of the tire not more than 1/16 of an inch when compressed; provided, that the Town Manager may, in his or her discretion, issue special permits authorizing the operation upon a town-maintained street of traction engines or tractors having movable tracks with transverse corrugation upon the periphery of movable tracks, or farm tractors of other farm machinery.
