§ 32.025 POLICE DEPARTMENT; COMPOSITION; CHAIN OF COMMAND.
   (A)   The Police Department shall consist of regular, auxiliary and special members and quarters, vehicles, equipment and other property as may from time to time be authorized by the Board of Commissioners.
   (B)   The organization of the Police Department shall be as provided by regulations adopted pursuant to § 32.027.
   (C)   The Chief of Police, under the general supervision of the Mayor, shall have direct control of the members and property of the Police Department and shall be in command of the members. Members of the Police Department shall assume command in order of rank as prescribed in departmental rules and regulations.

   (D)   A Special Investigations Unit for the Town of Wilkesboro shall exist as a new division of the Wilkesboro Police Department. The number of members of the Special Investigations Unit shall be determined by the Mayor and Town Board of the Town of Wilkesboro. The Chief of Police, under the general supervision of the Mayor, shall have direct control of the members and property of the Special Investigations Unit. Members of the Special Investigations Unit shall assume command in the Unit as prescribed by the rules and regulations of the Police Department, the Wilkesboro Town Code and with the authorization of the Mayor and Town Board of Commissioners.
