11.48.100: PRIVATE CLAIM TO TITLE OF AN ABANDONED OR JUNK VEHICLE:
   A.   A person on whose property a vehicle has been adversely abandoned becomes a de facto lienholder after seven (7) days.
      1.   A lien established under this section is called an "abandoned vehicle lien".
   B.   The holder of an abandoned vehicle lien is entitled to claim a salvage title pursuant to Nevada Revised Statutes 487.810(1)(d) when the number of days as determined by value in subsection 11.48.090B of this chapter have passed since the lienholder has:
      1.   Become a lienholder pursuant to subsection A of this section; and,
      2.   Engaged local law enforcement to conduct a check of the vehicle's VIN to verify it has not been stolen; and,
      3.   Completed an attempt to notice the last registered owner of the vehicle by direct service, mail, or publication (see Nevada DMV Form VP212); and,
      4.   Made reasonable efforts to discover other interested parties beside the registered owner (insurer, loan provider, and loan servicer). (Ord. 473, 2017)
