§ 33.02  RESERVE POLICE UNIT.
   (A)   Reserve police officers are considered volunteers and answerable to the Chief Executive Officer of the Police Department.
   (B)   Reserve police officers shall be appointed by the Town Council upon recommendation of the Chief Executive Officer.
   (C)   (1)   The town shall appoint a special police officer, for the purpose of serving as a school security officer in accordance with I.C. 36-8-3-7.
      (2)   Said special officer is subject to the Police Chief and shall obey the rules of the Department and the school or corporation to which he or she is serving.
      (3)   The special officer may not wear a uniform, the design of which is not easily distinguishable from or which conforms with the respect to the color design of the State Police, Sheriff’s Patrol of the county, the Town Police Department or the Terre Haute Police Department.
      (4)   The special officer has the powers, privileges and duties assigned to him or her by the Town Council and Chief of Police only while fulfilling the specific responsibilities for which this appointment is made, and include the power to protect school personnel which on school buses, including school children, employees and members of the governing body of the school corporation; and protection of all school corporation property.
      (5)   This special officer shall not be compensated by the town for services rendered.
