It shall be unlawful for any person to steal or take any goods, wares, merchandise, or other personal property of value less than $50, or other amount deemed appropriate by the Municipal Court, from any store, shop, office, or other place where such property is displayed for sale without first paying for the same or without first obtaining the permission and consent of the owner or his or her employee.
