925.20 CRITERIA FOR ADDITIONS AND CONNECTIONS.
   (a)   All water mains shall be ductile iron as indicated in the American Water Works Association Standard (henceforth referred to as AWWA) C-151-81.
   (b)   Water mains shall be cement mortar lined as per AWWA C-104-80.
   (c)   Mains and appurtenances shall be installed as per AWWA C-600-82. Concrete thrust blocking is preferred over tie rod blocking.
   (d)   Under certain adverse soil conditions, polyethylene encasement will be required as per AWWA C-105-82.
   (e)   All fittings must comply with AWWA C-110-82. No push-on fittings.
   (f)   Joints shall meet specifications of AWWA C-111-80. No flanged joints are to be directly buried.
   (g)   Pipe shall be the thickness sized as per AWWA C-150-81 with special attention given Section 50-4. The best laying conditions shall be determined by the Engineer and Village Water Officials according to AWWA standard cited above. Backfill under paved or traffic areas shall be compacted granular material only.
   (h)   Installations shall be disinfected as per AWWA C-601-81.
   (i)   Valves shall meet specifications of AWWA C-500-80.
   (j)   Dead ends shall be avoided whenever possible.
   (k)   All materials are subject to inspection and acceptance or rejection by Village Water Officials. All work shall be inspected before the trench is covered.
   (l)   For information regarding backflow prevention, fire suppression systems and service lines, other Village ordinances shall be referred to.
   (m)   The Village fire official must also be consulted in regards to fire suppression.
