Before entering upon the duties of his office, the village president shall take and subscribe the oath of office as provided by the statutes of the state of Illinois and shall execute his bond to the village in the penal sum of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) with sureties to be approved by the board of trustees, conditioned as provided by law.
