(a) In order to maintain a neat appearance, it is necessary that an allowance be made for members of the Police Department, including full-time and part-time officers and dispatchers, to allow for the purchase of those required uniforms.
(b) A uniform allowance shall be available annually beginning from and after June 21, 2022 as follows:
Full-time Officers $1,100.00 Part-time Officers $750.00 Full-time Dispatchers $450.00 Part-time Dispatchers $300.00 |
During October of each year, purchases of authorized equipment may be made through the Village at the request of Police Department members in amounts not to exceed the stated allowances. Any amount of the allowance not so spent shall not be redeemed in cash, nor carried over from one year to the next.
(c) In the event a uniform or personal required equipment such as prescription glasses, watches or shoes is damaged or destroyed while the officer is on duty, the Village shall repair or replace the uniform or equipment as necessary and may seek restitution from the offending party through legal process.
(d) When a newly employed full-time or part-time Police Officer or dispatcher is hired, he/she shall be outfitted with the required uniform and equipment to perform their duties as approved by the Chief of Police. Acquisition of such uniform and equipment will be the responsibility of the employee; but the Village shall loan the cost of the same to the employee, subject to later forgiveness if the employee completes one year of service to the Village.
