141.04 DUTIES OF CHIEF.
   The Fire Chief shall have command over all members of the Volunteer Fire Department and over all other persons who may be present at fires. He shall have police powers at all fires as ex-officio Police Chief. It shall be his duty to examine the conditions of all apparatus belonging to the Volunteer Fire Department. Whenever any of the buildings or apparatus used by the Volunteer Fire Department require any alterations, additions or repair, he shall report the same to the Board of Trustees of the Wellington Community Fire District. It shall be his duty to receive and transmit to the Board all communications relating to the Volunteer Fire Department and to keep an exact roll of the Volunteer Fire Department. It shall be his duty to examine at least once a year, and at other times as the same may be necessary, all of the fire hydrants of the Municipality for the purpose of keeping them in repair, protected from frost during the winter season and in condition for immediate use in case of necessity. At least once a year, or as often as the Board requests, the Fire Chief shall make a complete inventory in detail of the property belonging to the Volunteer Fire Department and report the same to the Board. Such annual report shall be made not later than the second Monday in January of each year and shall be filed with the Clerk of Council as a part of the Village records.
   The Fire Chief shall be an ex-officio Deputy State Fire Marshal with full power and authority of a Deputy State Fire Marshal. He shall perform such duties in connection with such office as are prescribed by law and such other and further duties as may be delegated by the Mayor or the State Fire Marshal.
