(a) All new residential, commercial, industrial and institutional uses shall be required to complete an application for assignment of a street address upon application for a zoning permit. Five (5) copies of a site plan shall be submitted with the street address application. The site plan shall indicate property lines, structure location (s) on the property, all entrances to each structure identified, and adjoining street names. (Ord. 2000-12. Passed 4-3-00.)
(b) Street addresses shall be assigned by a committee consisting of the Police Chief, the Fire Chief, one (1) representative of the Ambulance District and one (1) member of the Planning Commission. Street addresses will be issued by the Office of the Clerk of the Planning and Zoning Department. This committee may designate the responsible authority pursuant to this Zoning Code to carry out all or any of its duties. (Ord. 2012-13. Passed 5-7-12.)
(c) All principal structures shall be required to display address numbers facing, and clearly visible from, the street assigned as the location for the property.
(d) All displayed address numbers and street names shall have a minimum height of three inches and shall be of a color which contrasts with the color of the background on which the numbers are placed.
(e) No address numbers shall be displayed on a side street or rear street unless the name of the assigned street is displayed with the address numbers.
(f) Businesses must display address numbers and the assigned street name on all secondary entrances, which face streets or alleys other than the assigned street.
(g) All new dwellings and businesses shall have their assigned address numbers (and assigned street names where applicable) in place prior to issuance of an occupancy permit.
(h) Enforcement of this section shall be the responsibility of the Responsible Authority.
