In case of loss or destruction of a license tag or registration card or if either of the same or both shall become illegible, a replacement tag and/or registration card shall be issued, for the fee herein stated, to the registered owner provided such owner furnishes satisfactory proof of ownership to the Police Department by affidavit or otherwise.
