§ 1783.09 FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH ORDER.
In the event of the failure of an owner or person in charge of any dwelling or other building to comply with the terms and requirements of any notice or order of the Building Enforcement Agency within 20 days after the service or entry thereof, except where a proper request has been made for a hearing and the matters arising thereon remain undetermined, the Building Enforcement Agency may cause all necessary repairs, alterations or improvements to be made, or, if the public welfare requires, may cause the dwelling or building to be closed, removed or demolished. Provided, however, that the Building Enforcement Agency may extend the period for compliance with the terms and requirements of any notice which it may issue or order which it may enter, upon receipt of written request from the owner or person in charge of any building or other dwelling and proper showing by such owner or other person that he is unable, because of circumstances over which he has no control, to comply with the terms and requirements of such notice or order within such 20-day period.
